BREEDERS ARE THE HEART OF A CATTERY
Without good breeders, you cannot breed great kittens. At Mindeelyn Siberians, each breeder is carefully selected according to a strict criterion. This enables us to produce magnificent Siberian kittens who are healthy and have extremely affectionate personalities. Each one of our breeders come from lines filled with championships and rather than rhyme off a bunch of statistics, we thought we would tell you more about their personalities. Just like people, cats are all very different.
This picture shows Lorinda with Celsiana – an older kitten of one of her sisters.
Lorinda – Our Kitten Thief
Lorinda is a wonderful cat that was born into our cattery several years ago. She loves the whole world and everyone in it – especially dogs. She is also very passionate about kittens. When she doesn’t have a litter of her own, she can always be found hanging around, watching someone else’s kittens. When she has her own litter, she tries to snatch other mothers’ kittens and bring them back to her nest. It does not matter how many kittens she has acquired, either honestly by birth or thieving them from others. Although this can be very annoying to other mothers, it can sometimes be helpful for us because with her very positive believe in the Foster Parent Programme, she is always ready to take on a kitten or two from an extra large litter or to take over for another mother who cannot care of her own litter.
Mashana – She Will Ride Anything that Moves
The phase “dog-like cats”, describes Mashana perfectly. She was born into our cattery and spent more time with dogs than her own cat family when she was growing up. We are not sure whether she actually knows she is a cat. Mashana follows her favourite people around from room to room, she expects her share of “people food”, she walks outside on a leash, she wants to ride on anything that moves – a wagon, doll carriage, adult walker, baby carriage, floor cleaning robot. You name it. If it moves – Mashana is there.
Mashana is an extremely attentive, loving mother and has now given us several beautiful litters.
Sofiya – Our Sweetheart
Sofiya is the perfect one in the cattery – our perfect little angel. She never does anything wrong – not even when she was a small kitten.
Sofiya loves everyone and purrs her way through life. She has a very calm temperament and her sweet disposition shines through in all of her kittens. The person who gives Sofiya her “forever home” when she retires is going to have the most incredible pet.
Eugenia – The Helper
Need help around the house? Eugenia is the cat for you. She is very happy to join in sweeping the floor. The vacuum is great but she does prefer a mop or broom. Eugenia is excellent with office work. She tries very hard to prevent the paper from spilling out of the printer and enthusiastically bats at the mouse moving across the monitor. For most, bed making is a drag, but not for Eugenia. The more the blankets are flipped, the more she gets into the task.
With all of this in her busy schedule, she still finds time to be an outstanding and very attentive mother when she as a litter of little ones.
Zoryana – Trouble on 4 Little White Paws
Although she looks like an angel, sweet, adorable Zoryana is our problem child. Where Zoryana goes, trouble follows.
She was the first to climb out of the nest – much to her mother displeasure. She was the first to eat on her own but insisted on chewing the rim of the plate rather than the food. She was the first to climb the cat tree and then fell into a pail of cleaning water and almost drowned herself. Zoryana is the one who removes the paper from the printer, sits on the keyboard, tries to chew through wires, empties the waste paper baskets, harasses the dogs and constantly tries to escape out the front door.
But we love every naughty inch of her. Our one hope is that she will become calmer as she grows older.
Olena – Forever a Kitten at Heart
Olena seems to be everywhere and into everything. She loves attention and being in the spotlight. If she doesn’t get as much as she thinks she deserves you can expect to get a gentle pawing and a lot of head butting.
Her personality is very cuddly and playful. Even though she is one of our older females, she acts not that much older than her kittens. It is fascinating watching the care she takes of her kittens and how she teaches and plays with them. On their part, her kittens always seem to be more playful than an average litter. Whether this is genetics or a learnt behaviour from their mother is hard to say. Her kittens are always in great demand and we have several people who specifically asked for one of her kittens after adopting from one from her previous litters.
Atavar – Handsome, Adorable & Loving
Atavar, our senior male, was born in Poland in 2019. With the difference of languages, airline and immigration issues, it was a long and difficult job to bring Atavar to Canada. He has turned out to be well worth the wait and effort.
Atavar is a handsome golden tabby with a long line of championship ancestors stretching back many generations. He has a wonderfully warm and friendly personality and gets along well with everyone. Most importantly, Atavar is a big favourite with all our “ladies” and has already sired many wonderful kittens for Mindeelyn Siberians.
Senya – The Top Cat
We count ourselves very lucky to have received Senya from a breeder friend in British Columbia. Senya is a big, gorgeous male with excellent boning, great type, an impressive pedigree and a loving, friendly personality.
Although Atavar has been with our cattery longer, it did not take Senya long to make friends with him and to also come to an understanding that he is top cat. We believe that previously Senya did not have much interaction with dogs but he also made friends with our two Shih-Tzus very quickly. We can’t decide whether he follows the dogs or the dogs follow him but the three of them really add something to each other’s lives.
We know Senya was very loved by Galina, his previous owner, and we are so grateful that she entrusted him to us. We are thrilled to have this handsome boy and are looking forward to seeing the great kittens he will produce for Mindeelyn Siberians.
A Tribute to a Very Beloved Past Breeder
Introducing our dear, sweet Angus, gentle giant, and father to many, many of our most adorable kittens.
At 19 years of age, Angus is living out his well-deserved retirement in absolute luxury with a member of our family. This picture was taken Easter morning 2021, after Angus had enjoyed a tasty home cooked breakfast, spent some time watching squirrels outside his living room window, got himself wrapped up in his favourite soft blanket and he is now asleep in the sunshine on top of his new cat condo. Life just does not get any better than that!
SEE WHAT OUR CLIENTS ARE SAYING ABOUT US
When our greatly-loved cat passed in January of last year our family was devastated and considered not getting another because we were not sure we would ever find one as loving as he was.
When I approached Lynda, she suggested that we adopt an adult cat and had one in mind. We agreed and we could not be happier. Milo has fit himself into our family and is every bit as wonderful as our last cat. He LOVES being held and cuddled, is quirky and playful. He is a huge part of our lives and we can’t imagine life without him. We will forever be grateful for Lynda’s recommendation (and Milo wants you to know that he feels the same way!)
