A Siberian’s dense, thick coat is surprisingly easy to maintain. At most times of the year a weekly brushing with a wire comb is usually all that is required to keep the coat healthy and free of knots and tangles.Twice a year, Siberian cats shed their coat. Their longer, heavy winter coat is shed in spring, while their shorter summer coat is shed in the fall. You may wish to groom daily under these circumstances.
Siberians are generally quite happy to be picked up and cuddled – as long as you make sure that their paws are free so that they could escape if they wanted.
Some people think that cats can be left alone for many days with bowls full of food and water and a litter box. But it’s not true. No responsible pet owner would leave their pet with no sitter for more than a couple of days.
Siberians are generally long-living as they are not prone to many genetic health issues. The average expected lifespan is 12 to 15 years.
On average, the lifespan of an outdoor cat is 1/3 of that of one that is strictly indoors, regardless of the breed.
Pros
- One of the biggest arguments in favour of allowing a cat outdoors is related to exercise and boredom. Outdoor cats can exercise their natural instincts to prowl and hunt while getting fresh air.
- Indoor cats tend to have a higher prevalence of obesity and its related health issues.
Cons
- Outdoor cats are put at greater risk of other serious feline diseases, parasites, injury, and poisoning.
- Outdoor cats may also have altercations with other cats, dogs, or even coyotes and raccoons, which can exist in urban environments.
- Some of the other common concerns are incidental poisoning (like walking through spilled antifreeze), car collisions, theft, and becoming trapped in a remote place like a neighbor’s shed.
- To tell their mothers that they are all right when they are nursing.
- To show friendliness and to communicate pleasure.
- To calm themselves when they are nervous or in pain.
- Cats purr at a frequency of 26 Hertz, which promotes tissue regeneration, helping them to heal.
- Cats’ stress levels decrease when there are places to hide.
- Boxes are ideal places for stalking and lunging at prey.
- The cardboard helps trap body heat.
- Your cat grooms you as a way to show her affection and trust, like she would with her litter mates.
- Cats also like the taste of salt on your skin.
A cat definitely has a better sense of smell than a dog.
This is actually a sign of trust. Your cat is signaling that they feel safe and secure around you.
Cat can have a dominant front paw. Male cats tend to favour their left paw while female cats may have a dominant right paw.

A female cat can become pregnant as young as 4 – 6 months of age. Spaying and neutering your cat around this age is the best way to prevent any unexpected litters and help reduce cat overpopulation.
SEE WHAT OUR CLIENTS ARE SAYING ABOUT US
We were finally able to own cats after finding out about the Siberian cat being hypo-allergenic. We got our first cat from Mindeelyn Siberians in 2007, and because they went above and beyond for their kittens at that time, we now have two more from them that have stolen our hearts. Luke and Leia came to us very well cared for, and are beautiful, healthy cats! The process of getting a kitten is very smooth, accurate, and professionally done. They truly care for their cats. We will continue to get future cats from them as they have gained our full trust and respect. Thank you, Mindeelyn Siberians!
